Deluxe torture!

January 17, 2008 · 5 Comments

It was a cold night. I was sitting aside the window and was looking out. Many vehicles were passing by. I was feeling a blizzard. I heard the sound of shattering glasses surrounding me in all directions. Entire world seemed to vibrate with an irritating squeal. I suddenly felt like I will be thrown out through the window when the bus took a turn. My watch showed 00:30 A.M.

That day I had reached the bus station by 9:30 P.M. an hour earlier than the scheduled time. My uncle had reserved a seat for me to travel from Chennai to Trichy. I saw some decent buses with the word ‘Ultra deluxe’ written over them. We were waiting for an hour and then some thing different from the ultras came at around 10:30P.M. It looked horrible and seemed to be too old for the business. As it came closer I saw it was scheduled to depart by 9:25. So alongside many people I was waiting, going here and there, looking enviously at other superior buses. People who had not reserved for anything got comfy seats, damn they. At last an even worse bus came. My worst fears became true, it was the one I had to travel in. A couple of minutes after I entered the bus I found only ten people inside.

To reverse that ugly box and to move it out of the station it took 20 bloody minutes for the driver. As we started to gain momentum I heard all kinds of noises and experienced all possible vibrations. I was just happy that at least it was empty. At 1:00A.M a group of people entered. A lame slim man, an old man, a moron like well built man, a malnourished woman with two irritating kids, a dark man fully loaded with drugs, some local students with no manners at all, a pathetic family and at last a man in sixties with a young wife. Then I covered myself in a blanket;I had to escape the cold breeze.

6:30 A.M. I just woke up hoping that the torture would be over after some time. My heard skipped a beat when I read a board reading ” Chennai 194 Trichy 128″. O! shit I was still far from destination. Worst of all nature was calling me. After 90 hostile minutes they stopped somewhere near a dabha for breakfast. I was happy and soon had my meeting with nature. At 8:15 we left. After an hour we were some 25 miles away from the city. I saw a tragedy. A boy was hit by a car and died on the spot itself. When our bus slowly passed by his relatives were loudly weeping. Other lady was lying with her face on the floor and screaming. It looked terrible. Finally at 10:30 I reached the station and obviously can’t attend classes that day.

You will be feeling bad about what happened to that boy. I can understand. Forget it and be happy come on! Ok! ok! I will tell you a joke. Fine then? Hmm! They were calling that bus “Super deluxe”

complex green

January 8, 2008 · 1 Comment

We know it is the bloody human who almost destroyed the environment for his own comfort and made it hostile for his fellow being. Ironically, today the same is talking about saving the environment by making eco-friendly cars, for his own survival though. So wherever I go some words like ‘hybrid’ , ‘electric’, ‘bio-diesel’, ‘fuel cell’ are heard by me. So every manufacturer wants to make sure that they install some green technology crap so that they can say to press that they are contributing. But the truth is they aren’t and they can’t actually.

Many have tried solar vehicles in vein. The humble energy available from that won’t do. Some have successfully manufactured electric cars, but I am afraid it can’t pull a fat fellow even like me. Again this may prove futile over time I guess. The fuel cell technology seemed promising. ‘That is the future for automobiles’ – a sensible thought. Wait! But do we get the bloody hydrogen in shops? First do research ways to get it before making wheels powered by it. Finally hybrid technology alone has emerged successful and all makers showcase them in every show without fail. But still it does not replace fossil fuels totally. LPG is a good alternative but in the long run it won’t work. If every one wants to use it the price will be increased and also containing hydrocarbons it isn’t that green actually.

So there comes the final contender, the biological fuel. Recently the M-Maker showcased cars powered by bio diesel. Now the emissions have been brought under control quite a bit. Even then we are getting some CO2. Researches have been done trying to use other biological elements to get energy without combustion. But they have a pathetic efficiency and a lot of fuel is needed, I mean in industrial quantum. So all plants will be used up. O dear! Then how will environment be green? Then start diet exercise for cars. All cars lost weight some years ago and still are losing. The damn People need too much comfort. Again adds to the weight of the car. So, here comes the problem.

So ultimately the need for over comfort, laziness are the culprits. Alongside all these research, we can also contribute to environment if we just want a car, not a house inside it. Where was pollution in the age of bi-cycles? Today humans don’t want to move their asses and they keep it buried in those automatically adjustable seat. Small things like window glass opening, seat adjustment have to be made manual, I must say. Conservation is not a one step program. Why the engine alone, all the things must be made lean. So less number of parts, simple aerodynamic design, sufficient comfort and engine with just enough power will do.

After applying a lot of complex techniques and doing a lot of complex research and analyzing all those complex parameters, the complex minds have finally found solution at last. “Avoid complexity”

Alas! or Alar!

January 1, 2008 · 2 Comments

lambroghini_alar-03.jpgThis is time for the Lamborghini fans to think and find out whether or not the company’s latest offering honors their tradition of good-looking cars. Ever since sports cars have been in existence the lambos have been famous for head turning looks and sheer performance. The latter I think may be assured, no it’s sure to be found in the company’s latest offering. But the Italian manufacturer’s cars are legendary especially in terms of looks. But I am afraid this would sure damage their reputation.

The responses to the pictures of the car have not been great. You will find either Lambo fans struggling to defend or an outright criticism. It seems they have got them disgustingly wrong. This is a re-bodied Lamborghini Diablo, called the Alar, not a handsome car to say the least. This one looks like some bug sitting on wheels. That’s a shame to the hot builders, And to its ancestor Diablo too. Lamborghini took on this project, I doubt.

Ok, let’s say there is not even a problem with modern art or odd looking prototypes or even wild ‘out of the box thinking’. But this is just disgusting. The worst of all is its nose, mainly the lower skirt that bends up and looks like some licking action. I also never liked the hood, windshield, head lights, wheels, side surface lines, rear and er what else? I lost the count. The rear looks good from an elevated view. One must be mad to buy this at about Rs. 3, 00, 00, 000. If someone does others can laugh at the loser and call up the nearest psychiatrist.

The technical specs remain unknown yet. But I can’t get their plan that too in a market where thy style matters most. I think they are trying reverse psychology. I wish this remained as a prototype alone and never comes to production. Wait! I think I found the strategy behind this. They are planning to launch it as a surprise, and they are showing us a fake picture. Whatever it is, till we get further information nothing would show a positive sign. But even after this disappointment, it is a bloody Lambo. They will be having something inside their minds and inside this one too. Till the surprise come I will keep my fingers crossed.

Anyways, till they remove this ugly jacket come back to their sexy form , Kaushik ram and me will surely have the snapshots of REVENTONNto tweak up our desktops.
